Artist Conversation with KOTA EZAWA

Date

Friday September 25

Time (ET)

7:00 PM  –  8:30 PM

Kota Ezawa’s work explores the appropriation and mediation of current events and images, referencing sources from the news, art history, and popular culture. Ezawa has been well-known for creating light-boxes, videos, and works on paper that distill found images into his signature pared-down, flattened style. Currently on view at MAG is his light box, John and Yoko from The History of Photography Remix (2005). This event coincides with the installation of Ezawa's Nan and Brian in Bed from The History of Photography Remix (2013) at the George Eastman Museum and the exhibition KOTA EZAWA: Taking a Knee, which includes his video National Anthem (2018) and related works on paper at Deborah Ronnen Fine Art (on view from September 26th through November 7th at R1 Studio, 1328b University Ave).

Join MAG Director Jonathan Binstock who will talk with Kota about his art, sharing examples including videos through the Zoom webinar format, and fielding questions from the Zoom audience.
