About the Book

Named a best book of the year by New York Public Library, NPR, the Financial Times, Book Riot, and the Sunday Times (London), this fascinating portrait of the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Patrick Bringley, a former New Yorker staffer who spent a decade as a museum guard, reveals the hidden world of the Met's treasures. Bringley's journey, from a glamorous career at The New Yorker to seeking solace among the Met's artworks after suffering a loss, provides a unique and intimate perspective on one of the world's greatest museums.

About the Author

Patrick Bringley worked for ten years as a guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has discussed the Met and its treasures on NPR, CBS, ABC, the BBC, and the pages of The New Yorker. He has spoken at museums nationwide and will premier a one man show, adapted from his book, at the Charleston Literary Festival this fall. He lives with his wife and children in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. All the Beauty in the World is his first book.
