Gateways Music Festival’s mission is to connect and support professional classical musicians of African descent and enlighten and inspire communities through the power of performance. Founded in 1993 in Winston-Salem, NC, Gateways has called Rochester home since 1996.
Based on their great success the Gateways Orchestra will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Sunday, April 24, 2022 as part of Carnegie Hall’s regular season!
The seven-day music festival features chamber music recitals, a full orchestra concert, a film series, professional development activities, open rehearsals, lectures and panels. Events take place at 50 venues in and around Rochester in concert halls, community and recreational centers, libraries, galleries, houses of worship, senior residences, homeless shelters and private homes.
Lee Koonce will present highlights of the full Festival, which will begin in Rochester before traveling to New York City. You will really enjoy this program!
