About the Event
The Shona Mbira of Zimbabwe and African Connections
Presented by David A. Shakes and Glenn West
The cultures of sub-Saharan Africa are, at the same time, diverse and interconnected. This presentation will explore the music, instruments, rhythms, and culture of Southeast and West Africa, specifically oral (spoken) and musical traditions. We will hear African instruments played, and poetry read. Don’t miss this...it’s something special!
