Emerging out of social and cultural changes in the late 19th century, the "New Woman" challenged conventional gender norms and bridged the Victorian era and the Modern world. Meet the artists who both embodied and shaped new visual perspectives for Modernism, including: Frances Benjamin Johnson, Alice Barber Stephens, Dorothea Tanning, Hannah Höch, Florine Stettheimer, Georgia O’Keeffe, Romaine Brooks, Suzanne Valadon, Sonia Delaunay, Claude Cahun, Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller, and Frida Kahlo.
