Value & Form (4ASP25) with Larry Keefe

About the Class

Thursday
May 15
Ages: 18+

Painters like to say, 'Color gets the credit, but value does the work.' In this Art Start, we see how differences between light and dark determine the emotional effect of a painting, and how patterns of value create the forms that give it meaning. We will work with some simple watercolor exercises to see how different kinds of shadows can create a realistic scene with minimal effort. Bring an open mind and a critical eye—that's all you need.

Art Starts are designed as fun, one-time workshops featuring mini, introductory lessons in art making with the guided help of one of our teaching artists. All materials, encouragement and inspiration are included.
