Peter Jemison Community Art Project

Friday August 20

5:30 PM  –  7:30 PM

MAG is partnering with our friends at Ganondagan! On Friday, August 20th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm guests are invited to collaborate on a mural from a line drawing of the Iroquois Creation Story by Seneca artist and Ganondagan State Historic Site Manager G. Peter Jemison. Guests are invited to participate in the painting of a mural based on the Iroquois Creation Story, learn more about Indigenous art, and see his exhibition now on view through November 14th. Peter will be onsite at MAG from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. As part of this program, we will also be joined by Perry Ground (Onondaga), Haudenosaunee storyteller at 5:45 pm and again at 7 pm.

The Iroquois Creation Story and Art event creates an important opportunity for an educational, fun, community collaboration. “I’m looking forward to families and everyone in the community joining me to paint a mural based on the Iroquois Creation Story,” said Jemison. He also notes that all participants will be working outside under the MAG linden trees by the main entrance, using water-based paint on large sheets of paper.
