About "Memory, Narrative, and Ephemera"

How do we capture a moment in time? With a photograph? A painting? Or maybe with words? A quick sketch or maybe a sculpture of the subject at that moment?  All moments are fleeting but with art we attempt to preserve the moment through the medium we think best suits it, taking its essence and reproducing it. The result tells a narrative of that memory of that moment.

About Nathan Cobbs

Nathan started with MAG as a teaching assistant in the Creative Workshop. Nathan was able to let their passion lead the way, and their role progressed naturally into the curation and installation of the Lucy Burne Gallery. Originally from Washington, DC, Nathan graduated from the University of Rochester, double majoring in Studio Art and Art History with a focus on visual cultural studies and exhibition work. Nathan’s goal for the Lucy Burne Gallery is to elevate the experience of the gallery by introducing themes that prompt students to deeply reflect on and discuss the subject matter, meaning, technique, and process of their art.
