About the Art Start Workshop
Imagine hand-stitching a shirt from scratch without measuring for seam allowances or dealing with irons or sewing machines. In this workshop, students will create a “fuss-free” shirt that looks perfectly lovely! Participants will be granted the freedom and skills to create a more organic than perfect garment but still uniquely you, and one-of-a-kind! This workshop assumes all participants will be beginners at stitching, although all levels are welcome. Once you make one shirt, you will have the experience to make as many as your heart (and hands) desire. These hand-stitched shirts are constructed with running and back stitches and with bias tape along the neckline. Your visible stitchwork along the neckline, sleeves, and hem will create a distinctive garment and perhaps even the start of a new wardrobe you’ll wear with pride by the workshop’s conclusion, just in time for the warmer weather. The size-inclusive pattern we use ranges from XS-5XL.
