About the Camp
Monday, April 14 – Friday, April 18
Ages: 10-12
This week, we will draw inspiration from twentieth-century American artist Alma Thomas, whose work will be on display during this time. Thomas’s big, bold, and brightly colored paintings will inspire our work this week.
Mornings will be spent with a teaching artist from Writers & Books dreaming up characters, carefully crafting a unique story, building conflict, and writing sentences that zing off the page. Afternoons will be spent with a teaching artist from the Creative Workshop learning how to illustrate an idea, choose a fitting style, and draw things you don’t yet know how to draw. At the end of the week, you’ll have the option to present an excerpt from your book and bring home your illustrated copy. All art materials are included.
Camps & Drop-Off Times
Instruction begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 4:30 PM, but you may drop off your child as early as 8:30 AM and pick up as late as 5 PM. There is no extra charge for this supervised before-care and after-care.
