Learn how to carve and build relief pieces in clay during this two-session workshop. In the first workshop we will go over the stages of clay that are best for tile carving, what tools to use for this process as well as how to use foreground, middle ground, and background to bring relief into its full potential. We will design and transfer our images from paper to clay and begin the carving process. The second session of the workshop will be finishing the tile with either underglazes or oxides. The second session will only be 2 hours in length, from 6 - 8pm.
Art Starts are designed as fun workshops featuring mini, introductory lessons in art making with the guided help of one of our teaching artists. All materials, encouragement and inspiration are included.
