About the Class

Age: 18+

This class will teach you the basics of Jason’s carving techniques, along with the concepts of design for flat tiles and vertical forms. Learn how to transfer your design from paper onto a clay tile or vessel and create relief. We will discuss techniques with carving for storytelling, symbolism, and how relief carving can convey your ideas. This is a subtractive technique class, but we will also discuss how additive ideas can work along with carving.

Students are asked to be experienced with clay having a working knowledge of all the stages of clay and knowing the basics of drawing.

Materials Needed

Students will need to purchase clay for their own use. Clay in different varieties is available for purchase at the Creative Workshop for $20.00 for a 25lb bag. Valid payment methods include: Credit, debit and check.

Glazings and firings and including in the price of the class.
