Spend a lovely full day discovering the west side of Keuka Lake. We will travel by bus from MAG, leaving at 8:30 am and returning to MAG at 6 pm.
The west side of Keuka Lake is brimming with wineries, breweries, antique shops, gifts shops, and more. We will visit the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum. The 6,000 square foot facility displays a vast collection of aircraft, vintage motorcycles, antique boats, and so much more in a very friendly open space. At the age of 24, in 1902, Glenn Hammond Curtiss founded a manufacturing company to offer the public a motorcycle with a one-cylinder combustion engine. Glenn H. Curtiss is known as The Father of American Naval Aviation.
We will explore the large campus of Bully Hill Vineyards. Besides the winery and tasting rooms there is a gourmet restaurant, gift shop, wine historical museum, and art gallery. Along with magnificent views and beautiful landscape grounds, we will see over 300 works of art by Walter Taylor. Will King, Director of the museum, will discuss the various mediums Taylor used throughout his career. His wine labels were his traveling gallery, but he painted and sketched continually even on napkins! We will enjoy lunch on the terrace of Bully Hill Restaurant.
After lunch we will visit the famous Hammondsport Square with antique shops and gift stores. Grab an ice cream at The Crooked Lake Creamery and see the historic 1861 Park Inn.
Before we head home we will stop at the boutique Point of the Bluff Vineyards. We will have a wine and cheese tasting in their outdoor covered tent. Two state of the art Bocci Ball courts are available for fun.
